Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Issues of Sexuality
December 12th, 2011
I just finished two great trainings. One titled Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) with Teens and Families. DBT is a great modality for individuals who struggle to regulate emotion or who get caught in black and white thinking. It is a very structured therapy and based on the premise that one must accept themselves and at the same time work to change.
The other training was Issues of Sexuality. A training for practitioners to increase comfort in bringing up and discussing sexual issues as a part of couples counseling. Very informative and eye opening!
Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy
November 1st, 2011
I am now part of the newly formed Portland Oregon Community for Emotionally Focused Therapy(EFT). See our website and learn more about EFT here. We are a group of therapists committed to the EFT model developed by Dr. Sue Johnson. I am also beginning the process of supervision to become a Certified EFT Therapist. This means couples I work with will have the benefit of a Certified EFT Therapist reviewing and advising my work. Very exciting!
